OUR HISTORY IS PROOF OF OUR EXPERIENCE
EARLY STAGES, DEVELOPMENT AND EXPANSION
The story of GVP started in the early 1990’s with Mr. Radu Gilescu, who assisted and helped some of the first foreign investors to do business in Romania. We are honored to say that international clients (i.e. Billa, Porsche, Aral, etc.) managed to establish their presence in Romania, with the help and by way of benefiting from GVP high quality legal services. Mr. Radu Gilescu has been appointed an honorific lawyer for the Austrian Embassy and Austrian Federal Economic Chamber in Romania. In 2007 he was awarded the “Silver Medal of Honor” by the Austrian Republic through its Embassy in Romania.
DEVELOPMENT
During 2000’s, Mr. Ovidiu Văleanu, MBA, and Mr. Vlad Cîrjan joined the law firm as partners and have contributed to its modernization. Our practice extended from consulting on investments in Romania, commercial transactions, matters related to privatization up to greenfield investments, joint ventures enterprises, project financing, corporate and banking projects and pleading the cases before Romanian courts. In 2008, Mrs. Mirela Nathanzon was coopted as partner. According to current internal agreement, she will exit GVP as of January 1, 2020.
Throughout the years, GVP has provided legal assistance to German-speaking clients from Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and for English-speaking clients from Denmark, Finland, The Netherlands, USA, Czech and Slovakia. Also, our law firm offers legal counseling for embassies and foreign trade offices (Austria, Germany, Denmark) in legal affairs. In November 2005, GVP has developed a business cooperation with CHSH, advising clients in Central, Southeastern and Eastern Europe.
EXPANSION
In April 2008, GVP expanded, opening its first office in Timisoara, thus becoming the first international law firm with a secondary office outside Bucharest. Timisoara office provides legal services to clients located in the Western and Northwestern part of Romania, which has become Romania’s largest businesses cluster after Bucharest, profiting from the advantage of Timisoara’s location next to the Western border, which provides easy access to Central Europe. In 2015, GVP expanded even further, with a new office in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova.

TIMISOARA OFFICE
Our office in Timisoara is formed of six attorneys out of which four of them are fluent in German language and they are covering all the major areas of business law, tax law, corporate and M&A, labour & employment law, compliance, intellectual property, estate planning, litigation & dispute resolution, public sector real estate law, environmental law.
